Lent at St. John’s

Ash Wednesday Service
March 2 at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 2, we will officially begin the season of Lent with our worship series titled “The Wilderness Way to the Cross.” We will have had our fill of pancakes, laughter, and joy from the previous night, and we will turn our attention to self-reflection. Reflection can certainly be filled with laughter, joy, and fellowship as well, but this is a different sort of invitation. Ash Wednesday begins our season of Lent with a time of confession, prayer, and repentance. We place the symbol of ashes on our foreheads or hands as a reminder that we ourselves are the dust that God breathed into us long ago. We are God’s creation and Lent helps us refocus and remember our dependence on Christ for salvation and a way of life that is righteous.

Pastor’s Lenten Bible Study
Mondays during Lent at 6:30 p.m.

All are invited to the Pastor’s Lenten Bible Study beginning this Monday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room. This Bible study will follow along with our worship series “The Wilderness Way to the Cross.” This is a great place to fellowship, share and trade ideas, and study God’s Word deeply. Hope to see you there!
