Thanksgiving Distribution

Bag ’n Hand Food Pantry needs your help for the 2022 Thanksgiving food distribution

Continuing a St. John’s tradition of over ten years, the pantry is planning to serve 360 families a Thanksgiving meal from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, to enjoy with family and friends. In the early days, the St. John’s congregation supported Thanksgiving by bringing frozen turkeys to the church. As the number of families served grew larger the pantry began requesting donations to purchase the groceries. This year the meal includes a choice of turkey or ham, an apple or pumpkin pie, margarine, rolls, green beans, potatoes and cranberry sauce and will serve four to six people. The groceries are purchased from the John Brooks Market in Eldorado and the green beans are donated by Immanual Lutheran Church. The total cost is close to $10,000 and each meal costs $27. Donations from the congregation and the community pay for the meal and volunteers transport, package, and distribute the Thanksgiving boxes from the St. John’s parking lot. Your gifts of time and funding make this Thanksgiving meal possible. Please partner with the pantry and make a $27 or larger donation to serve our sisters and brothers.

Thank you,
Mary Ellen and Dolph, co-coordinators
